Shutting Down Your Garden

“As winter approaches, so does the need to put your garden to bed. Perennials like irises, begonias, clematis, and daylilies need to be pruned after the first frost. Pull dead annuals, harvest late fruit or vegetables, remove overgrowth, and clean your gardening tools.  Taking these steps now prevents pests and rot from moving in and taking over. This is also the time to prepare for next spring. Plant bulbs such as daffodils and tulips now, and they will be the first to greet you when spring arrives.” (Hungry for Home, Coming Soon!)
